Creating new habits for the new year!
Simple Acts Of Self-Care That Nurture Our Minds And Spirit
People used to say “ What’s new?” It’s a question that invites an authentic response a snapshot of someone’s current reality not their past or future anxieties. It’s an invitation to share what truly on their mind – A recent health concern, a joyful vacation or even just a happy moment it’s about what is going on in the present.
I’ve been thinking on this, especially since this is the beginning of a new year. So many new starts from self-care to mindfulness. Journaling for example, can be a powerful tool to open up creativity and release everything that is weighing us down. It allows us to process thoughts and feelings, unpack, lingering issues, and create space for clarity and creativity, instead of allowing our minds to wander into anxiety.
I find that incorporating small deliberate changes into my routine encourages a greater sense of well-being. Listening to a new podcast, exploring a new book or simply opening a window to appreciate the sounds of nature can all contribute to a renewed perspective. These are the simple acts of self-care that nurture our minds and spirits.
Creating new positive habits is vital. Let’s make taking care of ourselves our “new.” Let’s begin in the present and embrace the beauty of each moment of each day. We have 1,440 minutes in a day 1,440 opportunities to have a new positive thought to make better food choices or to smile more. Simply being in the moment, let that be our new!
Happy New Year and every moment in it!!!

Can Massage Therapy Promote a Healthy Heart?
Massage therapy is used to treat and prevent a wide range of diseases and adverse conditions, including stress, muscle tension, pain, inflammation and more. It’s a safe, non-invasive practice that has become increasingly popular for this very reason. You may be surprised to learn that massage therapy can also yield benefits for heart health.
Even with the advancements made in modern medicine, heart disease remains the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 600,000 people in the U.S. die from heart disease each year. While diet and exercise can lower a person’s risk of developing heart disease, there is strong evidence indicating that massage therapy can help as well. continue reading
Massage Therapy for Improved Sleep
There are an estimated 40 million people in the U.S. who suffer from some type of chronic sleep disorder (source). Lack of sleep can suppress your immune system, impair memory/cognitive function, promote weight gain, and disturb your body’s normal hormonal balance.
Many people who suffer from chronic sleep disorders resort to medication sleep aids to help them fall asleep and stay asleep at night. While these medications may initially help, their effectiveness begins to diminish over time as you build a tolerance. Sleeping pills can come with potentially serious side effects like stomach bleeding and kidney failure. continue reading
