What are essential oils?
Essential oils are the subtle, volatile liquids and aromatic compounds that are distilled or pressed from plants. Essential oils are present in the oil glands, hairs, ducts, bark, stems, leaves, and flowers of many plants. They are called “essential” because they are the immune system of the plant and without them the plant would die.
What is Essential Oil Therapy and Aromatherapy?
Essential Oil Therapy is the use of therapeutic quality essential oils to address psychological or physical ailments. Aromatherapy focuses more on the inhaled used of essential oils to treat a client. In recent years the term Aromatherapy has grown to include external use of essential oils applied to the skin.
Essential oil therapy is a science that uses concentrated plant energy in the form of fragrant oils to bring you greater physical and emotional health. Essential oils provide cellular healing due to their anti-microbial, pain relieving, and immune strengthening qualities. They offer balance to the emotional-mental self due to their interaction with the limbic brain, hormonal and nervous system.
As the mind/body comes more into harmony, the oils can inspire personal and spiritual growth. Essential Oils are playing an important part of holistic twenty first-century integrative medicines.
